Bio

Wehner was a four year letter winner in both Soccer and Basketball and hails from Cooperstown, NY.  She was an All MASCAC selection all four years on campus and is the only basketball player in school history with 1,000 points and 1,000 rebounds. 

On the pitch, Wehner was an outstanding goalkeeper under head coach Deb Raber.   Wehner and the Trailblazers experienced much success as they qualified for the ECAC Championships on two separate occasions, reaching the semifinal round both times.

Wehner started 56 games in net for MCLA collecting 17 shutouts along the way.  Wehner stopped an astounding 495 shots during her career in goal for MCLA.  After being injured for most of her freshman season, Wehner took charge as a sophomore.  Wehner stopped a career best 202 shots that season helping lead MCLA into the ECAC playoffs.

As a junior, Wehner and her teammates earned the MASCAC regular season championship.  She posted a miniscule 0.59 Goals against Average that season along with her 7 shutouts.  Wehner also stopped 106 shots that season.

As a senior, one of her top performances came against rival Westfield State when she saved 22 shots against the Owls!  Wehner was a first team All MASCAC selection her final three seasons in soccer.

While her soccer numbers are hall of fame worthy alone, her basketball career resonated nationwide.  Wehner was a dominant force in the middle for former MCLA head coach Holly McGovern. 

She ended her brilliant career with 1,606 points, 1,213 rebounds, and 291 blocked shots.   Here are some of her awards/accomplishments:

  • First in program history to be named MASCAC player of the Year
  • 3^rd nationally in double doubles with 23 in 27 games
  • 8^th nationally in rebounds per game with 14.3
  • Set a school record with 25 rebounds in game against Salem State
• As a senior was named
  • New England Women’s Basketball Association 2^nd Team
  • NEWBA Senior All Star Game
  • D3hoops All New England third team
  • Three peat winner of the Team MVP award

While individual accolades are great, Wehner lifted her team to unprecedented heights in 2010.  She led the Trailblazers on a historic run through the MASCAC playoffs, defeating the top two seeds along the way to being named tournament MVP and for the first time EVER, MASCAC Champions!  The Trailblazers would go on to face the #1 team in the nation in Amherst College.  Wehner would score 18 points and pull down 9 rebounds in that game.

Wehner ends her career as the all-time leading scorer and rebounder in program history, and is without question, the most dominant player to wear a women’s basketball uniform.
