North Adams, MA- The MCLA Athletics Department has been awarded the NCAA Division III Ethnic Minority and Women in Sports intership grant for the next two academic years.  The department is using the grant to fill a position entitled the Coordinator of Academic Success and Diversity.

This position is an NCAA DIII Ethnic Minorities & Women's Internship (two year grant position) that will be responsible for coordinating student-athlete academic support, advising and monitoring as well as the recruitment and support of diverse student-athletes.  Some of the duties assigned to the position are as follows:

  • Coordinate a sustained academic support program for student-athletes
  • Promote academic support to athletes and coaches
  • Meet regularly with Center Student Success & Engagement (CSSE) to coordinate support for student-athletes including maximizing the use of team and individual study sessions
  • Recruit academically and athletically talented student-athletes in accordance with the Division III philosophy and in strict adherence to college, MASCAC and NCAA regulations
  • Network with colleagues working in Community Based Organizations to identify students who demonstrate academic and athletic potential
  • Support mission and vision of athletic department
  • Serve as Game Day Supervisor
  • Complete all department, College and conference trainings
  • Attend mandatory department staff meetings and department events

The full time position will dedicate 40% to academic support, 40% to diversity recruitment, and 20% to special projects. Selected candidate must be able to travel to the NCAA in Indianapolis, in July 28-29 for the internship orientation.
