MCLA Inducts five into Hall of Fame

North Adams, MA- The MCLA Athletics department inducted five deserving individuals into the athletics hall of fame last night in a ceremony held at the Holiday Inn in downtown North Adams.  The 13th annual hall of fame class included Eddie Pires (Men's Soccer), Jessica Langenback (Women's soccer), Murales Louis (Men's Basketball), Amy Strand (Women's basketball) and Bill Fitzpatrick (Baseball).

The ceremony drew a packed audience of 100 people including over 30 alumni.  Here is a brief bio on each of the inductees:

 Bill Fitzpatrick '84-87– Baseball

Fitzpatrick is the career leader in pitching victories for the NASC/MCLA program amassing a record of 25-8 over his four year career.  Playing under legendary head coach and hall of famer Joe Zavattaro, Fitzpatrick helped lead the program to three conference championships, three NCAA appearances, and an ECAC finalist appearance.

Amy Strand '99– Women's Basketball

Strand was a four year standout under Dot Houston and averaged a double double for her career.  She owns the school record for blocked shots in a career (370) and single season (121).  She was the first player in program history to collect over 20 rebounds in a game, a feat that she accomplished on two separate occasions.

Eddie Pires '01– Men's Soccer

Pires transferred into MCLA from AIC and quickly became an impact player under hall of fame coach Ron Shewcraft.  Pires scored 20 goals and notched 9 assists during his career in North Adams.  He was named All MASCAC in two seasons and culminated his career with an All New England selection as a senior.

Murales Louis '01– Men's Basketball

Louis was a dominant force for the Men's Basketball program as a center.  He totaled 1,727 points, 852 rebounds, and shot an astounding 56% from the floor.  Louis was an All MASCAC selection all four seasons and led the team to a regular season conference championship as a junior.  He ranks in the top five all time in scoring, rebounding, and blocked shots.

Jessica (Tietgens) Langenback '11– Women's Soccer

Langenback was a scoring machine from the moment she arrived at MCLA.  The forward would begin her career as the MASCAC rookie of the year and culminate it as the MASCAC player of the year.  In between, she would shatter all time records at the college including goals (88), points (199), and the top three single season goal marks (30, 25, 18) at the college.
