Athletics announces yearly awards at Virtual Celebration
North Adams, MA- Typically on this date the MCLA Athletics department hosts their annual awards banquet to celebrate the programmatic and individual accomplishments throughout the year. As we know, this is not your typical celebration due to the COVID pandemic. Tonight, the department released their virtual celebration to honor those remarkable performances and to honor the senior class.
The celebration included various videos from administrators within the department and included the sights and sounds of the 2019-20 academic year. The celebration kicked off with a look back at some highlights before the awards began with the Academic Awards. Ben Durland (Baseball) and Tessa Sestito (Volleyball) took home the top student athlete GPA's and then we officially inducted the 2020 Chi Alpha Sigma class.
Most Valuable Player honors were awarded to both fall and winter programs while the department also conducted two twitter polls to interact with fans on social media.
The department's two major awards, the Louis Parisien and Sue Getchell awards, are usually handed out to the top scholar male and female athletes. The department decided not to award these due to the pandemic and spring programs being cancelled.
The celebration concluded with a senior class tribute and a message from our staff.
