Three Trailblazers named to MASCAC Sportsmanship team

2015 MASCAC Spring Sportsmanship Teams

North Adams, MA- Three senior MCLA student athletes were named to the spring MASCAC Sportsmanship teams following the completion of their respective seasons.  Named to the team were Leah Sullivan (Women's Lacrosse), Amanda Meczywor (Softball), and Alon Willing (Baseball).  A total of 34 student athletes were named to the team across all eight MASCAC institutions.

The MASCAC Sportsmanship Teams recognize student-athletes and coaches who display outstanding sportsmanship on and off the field. As an important piece of the MASCAC and NCAA philosophy, the representatives on the team display what it means to have good sportsmanship in the MASCAC.

A student-athlete from each institution is selected by their coach to be placed on the sport they compete in Sportsmanship Team. Joining the student-athletes is also a coach who was voted on by their peers to be the Sportsmanship Coach of the Year for their respective sport.

Sullivan was a solid defender and team MVP for the Lacrosse program that just wrapped up their inaugural season.  Meczwyor had a decorated career in leading the softball program to their first NCAA tournament appearance since 1995 and was named to the All Regional team for her efforts.  Willing was a three year starter for the baseball program behind the plate and was great on defense throwing out over 35% of would be base stealers.
