Baseball has win streak snapped by UMF in opening game of twinbill

Auburndale, FL- University of Maine at Farmington's Ryan Pratt tossed a complete game and the Beavers scored seven runs in the top of the first as they cruised past the MCLA Trailblazers 8-1 this morning at Lake Myrtle Stadium.  The Beavers improve to 3-3 on the season while MCLA had their three game winning streak snapped and are now 5-3 overall.

The Beavers erupted for seven first inning runs off MCLA starter Shawn James.  After an out, the next eight UMF batters reached eventually chasing James.  Kevin Carter singled to right field driving in a pair of runs and a squeeze bunt from Tyler Flayhan made it 3-0.  Chase Malloy singled to drive in another and an error brought home another.  The Beavers would end the frame with 5 hits and an early 7-0 lead.

Frank Rickus relieved James and was strong out of the bullpen.  The left hander kept the Beavers in check for the most part tossing 5.2 innings and yielding just one run.

MCLA finally got on the board in the third inning off of Pratt when Bill Pulasky singled home Logan Rumbolt for MCLA's only run.

Pratt allowed just 6 hits in going the distance and struck out a pair of Trailblazers to earn his second win of the season (2-0).  The Beavers outhit MCLA 10-6.
