MCLA holds on to defeat Lawrence 14-11

Auburndale, FL- Though outhit 16-9, MCLA took advantage of 5 Viking errors and had some timely hitting of their own en route to a 14-11 nonconference win over Lawrence University this evening. With the victory the Trailblazers improve to 5-7 while the Vikings drop to 2-6.

MCLA never trailed in this one posting six runs in the top of the 2nd and three more in the top of the 5th to jump out to an 8-1 lead. But Lawrence would answer with 5 runs of their own in the bottom half of the 5th and again answer the Trailblazer's 3 spot in the top of the 7th with 5 more runs to cut the margin to just one at  12-11 heading to the top of the 8th.

Following a pair of walks and a sacrifice bunt by Antonio Archina, Shawn James would score on a wild pitch and Archina would follow on a Jake Ferrara sacrifice fly to bump the MCLA lead back to three and where it would remain 14-11.

Offensively the Trailblazers were led by Christian Seariac who went 4 for 5 with 4 RBI's as well as Logan Rumbolt, Marco DiNicola and Ferrara who each drove in a pair of runs.

For the Vikings Patrick McDonnell, Clayton Agler and Spenser Ross all went 3-for-4 with McDonnell driving in three runs.

MCLA starter Brendan Kelly went five innings striking out six to earn the victory.

Mike Brady took the loss for Lawrence.

The Trailblazers will wrap up their Florida swing on Friday as they take on Keuka in an afternoon doubleheader.
