North Adams, MA- MCLA's Keiland Cross has been named the MASCAC rookie of the year as announced by the league offices this afternoon.  Cross is the first Trailblazer since Paul Maurice back in 2013 to earn the award.

Fitchburg State's Jaleel Bell was tabbed as the conference player of the year while his coach, Titus Manderson was selected as the coach of the year.

The honor comes as no surprise to Cross.  The guard was second in the MASCAC in scoring at 16 ppg and led the league in assists with 4.3 per game.  The junior from Pittsfield, Mass. also collected 169 rebounds, 36 steals and 13 blocks. Cross was a seven-time MASCAC Rookie of the Week this season while also earning Player of the Week once.

Cross had his best week of the season back in December when he helped the Trailblazers take home the Tri State Shootout after earning most valuable player honors.  He averaged 27.5 ppg and 6 assists as the Trailblazers defeated RPI and Fisher College on their way to a pair of victories.

Cross had a career high 38 point effort in a loss to Bridgewater State in late January.  He was in double figures in 17 games this season for MCLA.
