Demartinis tabbed MASCAC Rookie of the Week in Men's Basketball
North Adams, MA- MCLA first year guard Mike Demartinis has had a memorable first week as a Trailblazer. Making his first appearances for the Men's Basketball program over the weekend, Demartinis was selected to the Ken Wright Invitational All Tournament team. Today, he was chosen as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletics Conference (MASCAC) rookie of the week.
Westfield State's Marcus Collins was selected as the conference's player of the week.
Demartinis came off the bench in both games for the Trailblazers. In Friday's opener against Western New England, he poured in a team best 19 points. He would follow that up with a 15 point performance in a narrow 61-59 win over Sarah Lawrence. He added 7 rebounds in each contest and shot 12-24 on the week. More impressive, he went 7-13 from beyond the arc over the weekend that was hosted by Amherst College.
For his efforts, he was MCLA's lone representative on the All Tournament team.
Demartinis and the Trailblazers open at home tomorrow at 6pm against local foe Williams College.
