North Adams, MA- Bridgewater State's Rayshon Ward scored 27 points and pulled down 16 rebounds to lead the visiting Bears to a convincing 94-63 win over the MCLA Trailblazers in MASCAC action in the Amsler Campus Center.  The Bears improve to 3-10 overall and are now 1-0 in conference play.   The Trailblazers suffer their fourth straight loss in falling to 4-10.  They are now 0-2 in the MASCAC.

Ward ended the contest shooting 10-18 from the floor for his monster night.  He canned a pair of three pointers in the win.  Nick Crocker ended with 16 points and 8 boards for the Bears while Ryan Carney added 12 points.  Admar Jaramillo collected 11 points for the Bears.

BSU shot 49% from the floor in the win and held MCLA to just 35% shooting.

In the opening half, the Bears started fast as they sprinted out to an 11-0 lead as Ryan Carney and Rayshon Ward combined for all 11 points forcing a Trailblazer timeout.  MCLA responded with a 7-0 spurt of their own to get back into it, but the Bears eventually pulled away.

With the score at 24-12 midway through the half, the Bears would embark on a 16-3 run to grab control as they led 40-15.  They would end the half in front by a score of 50-21.  BSU shot a solid 50% in the opening half of play.  They also controlled the glass outrebounding MCLA 31-19.  Ward went off for 19 first half points while Carney added 10.  BSU assisted on 13 of their 21 field goals in the opening half with Admar Jaramillo leading with way with 5 assists.

MCLA played better for much of the second half as they trimmed the lead to just 18 points, but ultimately the Bears proved to be too much and pulled away to secure their first win of the conference season.

Antoine Montgomery scored 16 points as did teammate Joaquin Scullark for the Trailblazers.  Hayden Bird and Ki-Shawn Monroe each ended with 11 points in the loss.

The Trailblazers continue MASCAC play on Saturday when they head to Worcester State.  The Bears will host Westfield on Saturday at the Tinsley Center.
