Yearsley, Demartinis lead Men's Basketball to season opening 74-65 win over Johnson

Johnson, VT- MCLA's Noah Yearsley came off the bench and scored a game best 21 points and Mike Demartinis added 17 to lead the Trailblazers men's basketball team to a 74-65 win over NVU-Johnson.  The game marked the season opener for both programs.  

MCLA is now 1-0 while the Badgers are 0-1.

MCLA is back at it tomorrow at 1pm when they challenge NVU-Lyndon in the final game of the Vermont Classic.

The game was back and forth early on with each team showing first game jitters.  MCLA eventually took over behind Yearsley and Demartinis as the duo combined for 17 of MCLA's 34 first half points.

In the second half, the Badgers would keep it close, but MCLA would eventually pull away.

Demartinis was 7-14 from the floor and added 9 rebounds to his stat line.  Yearsley was 7-16, but canned four three pointers for his 21 point night.  Quentin Gittens chipped in with 10 points and 9 rebounds in his first game.

MCLA held Johnson to just 14% shooting from beyond the arc and outrebounded the Badgers 45-38.  The Trailblazer bench outscored the Badgers 43-25.
