Men's Basketball topped by cross town foe Williams 87-57

North Adams, MA- Spencer Spivy tallied a game high 22 points and collected 7 rebounds to lead the Williams College Men's Basketball team past the MCLA Trailblazers 87-57 this evening in the Amsler Campus Center Gym.  The Ephs improved to 4-1 on the season while MCLA dips to 3-4.

Spivy was 6-11 from the field, but all his attempts were from beyond the arc.  He scored 13 points in the second half.

Williams led just 15-13 after Hayden Bird's jumper for MCLA midway through the first half.  From there, the Ephs went on a 15-0 run to seize a 30-13 lead.  Spivy started the spurt with a triple.  He would add another and when Mickey Babek scored four straight points, Williams led 30-13.  They would eventually hold a 40-21 lead at halftime even thought they shot just 5-23 from three point land.

MCLA cut the lead to 14 points on a Mike Demartinis bucket to make it 40-26, but Williams once again answered.  Another Spivy triple stemmed the tide and started a 16-5 spurt that he capped with another three to make it 56-31.  Williams would not be threatened the rest of the way as the closing ten minutes featured many fouls and free throws.

Alex Stoddard added 12 points off the bench for Williams.  Thirteen Ephs found their way into the scoring column and they outrebounded MCLA 52-33.

No Trailblazer scored in double figures.  MCLA was led by Noah Yearsley's nine point effort.  Chris Becker added 7 points and 6 rebounds.

MCLA is back in action on Tuesday when they host Sage.
