Lawrence finishes ninth in NAC Championships as MCLA wraps up fall

Bangor, ME- Trailblazer Matt Lawrence shot his best round of the season with a 74 to vault himself into the top ten at the NAC championships.  MCLA finished in seventh place however they improved their score from Saturday as they shot a 317.

Lawrence shot 77-74 to finish tied for ninth. 

Husson held a two-stroke advantage after the opening day of play and never looked back, as the Eagles claimed their 11th North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Men's Golf Championship title in 13 years with a two-day total of 584 at the Bangor Municipal Golf Course.

Husson managed to record an impressive 289 in the opening round before posting a 295 on the final day to secure an automatic berth to the 2017 NCAA Championship. Salem State posted a 610 to take runner-up honors, while UMaine-Farmington followed with a 616 for third and Castleton took fourth just two strokes behind the Beavers with a 618. 

Rounding out the field were Maine Maritime in fifth (641), Johnson State in sixth (647), MCLA in seventh (654), and Green Mountain in eighth (772).

Husson's Daulton Wickenden turned in the best score of the tournament with a 141 (69,72), while Castleton's Zachary Temple was just three strokes behind for a total score of 144 (71, 73). Husson's Mackenzie Clow and Philip Thome came in third and fourth with a 145 (72, 73) and a 147 (74, 73), respectively. Chad Alibozek of Salem State tallied a 148 (68, 80) earning him the fifth spot.

Three student-athletes found themselves tied for sixth after carding a 150, including Kiley Moody of Johnson State (79, 71), Ryan Swart of Salem State (70, 80), and Eric Aguiar of UMF (75, 75).
