Dwyer's career best round leads MCLA to third place after day one of NAC Championships

Pittsfield, MA- The opening round of the 2017 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Golf Championships were held this afternoon under blustery conditions at Berkshire Hills Country Club in Pittsfield, MA.  After the opening round, the Husson College Eagles sit atop the leaderboard with a cumulative score of 303 and hold a seventeen shot advantage over Salem State University.

MCLA is in third place after shooting a season best score of 323 paced by Reese Dwyer's 76.  Josh Fortier and Liam Nolan each posted 82's, while Matt Lawrence ended with an 83.

The final round of the 36 hole event will begin tomorrow at 8:30am with the leaders teeing off at 10:30am.  The winning team receives the NAC's automatic bid into the 2018 NCAA Division III Golf Championships.

Husson's Gavin Dugas led all scorers with a two over par round of 74.  Dugas carded three birdies against five bogeys to seize the individual championship lead.  His closest competitors are two of his teammates as Daulton Wickenden and Mackenzie Clow each posted 76's and sit two shots back of Dugan.  

Salem State's Chad Alibozek and Husson's Eric Dugas each shot 77 and are three shots out of the lead heading into round two. 

Four players are tied with 79's heading into the final round of play.
