Lacrosse Tripped Up by Purchase, 6-3
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. – The MCLA Lacrosse team welcomed the Purchase College Panthers to Shewcraft Field this afternoon for a non-conference matchup. MCLA's Neal Brierley extended his game scoring streak to four, but Purchase's Kevon Joseph's hat trick propelled the Panters past the Trailblazers, 6-3.
THE BASICS:
- Date: Saturday, March 15, 2025
- Score: Purchase 6, MCLA 3
- Records: Purchase College Panthers 2-3 (Skyline 0-0) | MCLA Trailblazers 0-4 (NAC 0-0)

HOW IT WENT DOWN
- Purchase drew first blood, scoring a pair of goals in the first three and a half minutes. Kevon Joseph (13:26 remaining, assisted by Zach Collins) and Collins (11:32, Soleil Gaines) were credited with the goals.
- MCLA's Neal Brierley (North Adams, MA) got the Trailblazers on the board with 9:21 remaining in the first quarter. Sophomore defenseman Ryan Gaynor (Scotia, NY) started the play, intercepting a pass at the top of the MCLA defensive zone and running the ball across the midfield and finding Brierley in front of the net for his fourth goal of the season. The assist was Gaynor's first of the year.
- With 10 seconds left in the first period, the Panthers' Joseph picked up his second goal of the game, with another helper being credited to Collins to close the first period at 3-1 visitors.
- About 90 seconds into the second period Purchase added onto their lead when Gaines (13:29, Joseph) found the back of the cage.
- MCLA would respond with a pair of goals to get back to within a goal at 4-3. The first goal was scored by sophomore midfielder Ashton Morris (Gansevoort, NY). Sophomore midfielder Ty Roadcap (Troy, NY) brought the ball through midfield and passed it back to Morris (11:58, unassisted) at the top of the box. With the Panthers playing back, Morris charged into the box and broke down a pair of defenders before whipping a shot into the lower right corner. It was Morris' first goal of the season.
- Freshman midfielder Cameron LaFerriere (Pittsfield, MA) (9:21, unassisted) notched the Trailblazers' third goal of the afternoon after picking up a loose ball near midfield and running straight into the box and whipping an underhand shot into the bottom of the goal before the Panther defense could collapse around him. The goal was the third of the season for LaFerriere.
- With just over half a minute to play in the first half, Purchase added another goal to push their lead to 5-3 at halftime. The goal was scored by Gaines (0:34, Jack Saueracker).
- The Panthers' Joseph (10:16, unassisted) would add one more goal to complete his hat trick before the game became more physical and defensive minded. Neither team would score again, while Purchase held an advantage of 13-5 in shots in the third and fourth quarters.
