Men's Soccer earns second straight shutout, defeats Johnson State 2-0

Norwich, VT- The MCLA Men's Soccer team earned their second straight shutout as they defeated Johnson State 2-0 this afternoon in the Norwich Cadet Classic.  The Trailblazers improved to 2-0 on the season while Johnson falls to 0-2.

MCLA lost the tiebreaker to host Norwich for the overall title, however they were well represented on the all tournament roster.  Making the team were: Kwadwo Kusi, Anthony Basile, Romeo Grey, and Anthony Bonacio, who was named the defensive MVP of the tournament.

Grey tallied the game winner as he knocked home his second goal in two days after a feed from Tyler Callahan.  His goal came in the 30th minute and MCLA held the 1-0 lead at the half.

Even though MCLA was dominating the play, Johnson was still in the game until Basile's tally in the 73rd minute.  He took a Kusi feed and beat Johnson keeper Miles Peterson for an insurmountable 2-0 advantage.

On the day, MCLA held a convincing 22-8 shot advantage and a 9-4 edge in corners.
