MCLA plays Framingham State to 1-1 draw in Men's Soccer

North Adams, MA- The MCLA Trailblazers and Framingham State Mens' soccer programs went toe to toe for 110 minutes and drew 1-1 this afternoon at Shewcraft field in a battle of two of the top teams in the MASCAC.  Both teams are now 2-1-1 in league play.  Framingham is 4-6-2 overall while MCLA is 6-5-1 on the season.

MCLA kept the Rams at bay for much of the afternoon although they were outshot 27-14 on the day.  Framingham finally scored the equalizer in the 83rd minute when Cory Carderio headed home a Bryan Dasilva corner kick.  The tally was his fourth of the season and tied the game at 1-1 as they headed into overtime.

In the first OT, MCLA had a few chances to earn the win, however they missed wide and Framingham's Jacob Nichols collected a save.  The Rams controlled play in the second OT however they too went wide with their attempts and each team walked away with a point.

A back and forth first half saw Framingham own an 11-8 shot advantage; however none of the Rams' shots were on net.  The Trailblazers had a golden opportunity to break into the scoring column in the 27th minute when the Rams were whistled for a foul in the box resulting in a penalty kick.  Trailblazer Anthony Basile took the kick, however Framingham's Jacob Nichols was up to the task and stopped the shot.

Basile collected the rebound and fired again, but Nichols was there to keep the zero on the board.  MCLA would keep the pressure on though, and just five minutes later they broke through.  Romeo Grey took the ball into the right corner and passed off to Chris Shea.  Shea fed a cross that found the foot of Tyler Vona who beat Nichols for a 1-0 lead.  The goal was Vona's third of the season.

Framingham had a great chance to tie the score later in the half when Tyler Jack fired from close range only to sail high and MCLA would lead 1-0 at halftime.

Nichols would stop five shots for the Rams while Matt Robinson also collected five saves.

MCLA is back in action on Monday when they play Mount Saint Vincent.
