Men's Soccer falls on road at Mass. Maritime 1-0

Buzzards Bay, MA- The Massachusetts Maritime men's soccer team scored in the fifth minute and keeper Joe Cohen made it stand up as the Buccaneers defeated the MCLA Trailblazers 1-0 this evening at Clean Harbors Stadium.  With the win, MMA wraps up its regular season at 7-7-2 (4-2-1 MASCAC) and has earned the second seed in next week's playoffs.  They also earned a first round bye with the victory.

MCLA drops to 6-7-3 overall (2-2-3 MASCAC) and will be the fifth seed in next week's playoffs.  The Trailblazers will travel to Framingham State on Tuesday at a time to be determined.

The hosts scored in the opening minutes when Michael Rouette collected a corner kick from Rob Robbs and converted for his second marker of the season.  From there, the story became the weather and Cohen.

Playing a driving rain and strong, gusty winds, neither team was stout offensively as MCLA held just a 12-6 shot advantage.  Each team collected six corner kicks in the contest.

Cohen made six stops to earn the shutout for the Bucs.

Matt Robinson was the tough luck loser allowing the lone goal and stopping a pair of shots.
