Basile's hat trick leads MCLA past Salem 3-1 in Men's Soccer

Salem, MA- MCLA junior forward Anthony Basile collected a hat trick in leading the Trailblazers past the Salem State Men's Soccer team 3-1 this afternoon in MASCAC action.  With the win, MCLA earns their first win of the season as they improved to 1-4-2 overall and are now 1-1 in conference play.  Salem is still searching for their first win as they fall to 0-7 overall and 0-2 in league play.

Basile wasted little time in making an impact as he scored just 1:07 into the contest.  He put home a feed from Edward Boateng to make it 1-0 early on.  Then in the 20th minute, he would score an unassisted goal making it 2-0 in favor of the Trailblazers.

Salem would answer just seconds before halftime when Eseosa Okunmwendia tallied with just 6 seconds on the clock.  The teams would go into halftime with MCLA leading 2-1.

In the second half, Basile completed the hat trick when he finished off a Dylan Pereira feed in the 66th minute to give MCLA an insurance goal.  MCLA's Kamron Anderson would make it stand up as he finished off his first career win between the pipes.

Anderson stopped the four shots he saw to earn the win.  His counterpart, Greg Enos tallied 8 saves.

MCLA owned a decided 16-8 shot advantage, while the strangely the Vikings owned a 9-0 mark in corners.

MCLA will return to play on Tuesday when they travel to Elms for a 5pm kickoff.
