Men's Soccer falls 3-0 to sixth ranked Montclair State in season opener

Montclair, NJ- The MCLA Men's Soccer held on for as long as they could against the sixth ranked team in the country, however the host Montclair State Redhawks scored twice in the final ten minutes to pull away in a 3-0 victory over the Trailblazers.  The match was the season opener for both clubs, the Redhawks are 1-0 while MCLA is 0-1.

Damian Bziukiewicz scored a pair of goals for the hosts to lead all scorers.

Montclair didn't wait long to get on the board as Bziukiewicz tallied just 51 seconds into the contest to give the hosts a 1-0 lead.  The Redhawks would go on to outshoot the Trailblazers 10-1 in the opening half, however MCLA keeper Kamron Anderson would limit the damage.

In the second half, Montclair kept up the pressure but MCLA wouldn't crack until late in the contest.  In the 82nd minute, Lucas Terci would knock home a Kevin Simek pass giving the Redhawks an insurance marker putting them up 2-0.

Any thoughts of a Trailblazer comeback were dashed just one minute later when Bziukiewicz scored another unassisted goal for an insurmountable 3-0 advantage.  MCLA wouldn't threaten the rest of the way.

Kamron Anderson stopped 10 shots in net for MCLA and absorbed the loss.

The Redhawks controlled play as they outshot MCLA 25-3 in the contest including a 14-3 mark on net.

MCLA will play again on Saturday when they travel to Becker College for a 1pm kickoff.
