Men's Soccer shutout 2-0 by Union in CIAO Classic

North Adams, MA- Union College's Vincent Oliveto scored in the 55th minute to lift the Dutchmen to a 2-0 win over the MCLA Trailblazers this evening at Shewcraft Field in game two of the CIAO Soccer Classic.  Connor Horan added an insurance tally in the 74th minute to provide the final margin.

Union improves to 4-0 on the season while the Trailblazers drop to 1-2.

Union will face off against Western Connecticut State tomorrow at Noon, while MCLA will take on Lehman at 2pm.

After a scoreless first half in which Union outshot MCLA 9-1, the Dutchmen finally broke through in the 55th minute.  Oliveto converted an Eric Babbitt feed and slipped a shot past MCLA's Kamron Anderson for a 1-0 lead.  The marker was Oliveto's first of the season.

Union would continue to keep up the pressure and got some separation in the 74th minute when Horan connected.  Salvador Lopez lofted a free kick into the box that Horan got a good foot on and ripped a shot past Anderson making it 2-0 Union.  The goal was his first of the season as well.

Union held a commanding 20-5 shot advantage and a 6-1 mark in corners.

Union's John Weitzman earned the shutout collecting two saves for Union. 

Anderson absorbed the loss for MCLA notching 5 saves.
