Castleton bests MCLA in Men's Tennis 8-1
Bennington, VT- The visiting Castleton State Spartans earned an 8-1 victory over MCLA in NAC Men's Tennis action this afternoon at the Bennington Tennis Center. With the win, the Spartans improve to 5-2 and 2-0 in conference play. MCLA falls to 1-4 on the season and 0-2 in NAC play.
Castleton's Kevin Rosset, Mike Divis, Joshua Dower, and Matt Trombley all earned a pair of points for the Spartans. Rosset won at third singles in straight sets before teaming with Dower to earn an 8-1 win in second doubles. Divis and Trombley each won their singles matches handily before teaming for an 8-0 win in third doubles.
MCLA's lone point came from the duo of Rob Wabshinak and Taylor Krowitz, who defeated the tandem of Mike Glaser and Adam McCaffery 9-8 in the top doubles slot. The match came down to a 7-2 tiebreaker point.
Wabshinak put up a fight at the number one singles match, however he ultimately fell in three sets to Glaser. McCaffery also had to work in the second singles match against Krowitz, eventually winning the third set 6-0.
