Tennis blanked by Colby Sawyer 9-0

NEWPORT, N.H. - April 13, 2014 - The Colby-Sawyer men's tennis team improved to 4-0 in conference play after a 9-0 victory over Mass. College of Liberal Arts on Sunday afternoon.

The Chargers are 10-8 overall and will conclude the regular season in the upcoming week with matches against Castleton and Lyndon. MCLA drops to 3-5 overall and 1-4 in conference play. The Trailblazers will host non-conference foe Rhode Island College on Wednesday.

Nathan Taschereau and Myles Utell (No. 1) and Sergio Spassof and Dean Boodakian (No. 2) did not drop a point en route to 8-0 victories in doubles action. Cass McCann and Julius Graefe won at No. 3 doubles, 8-1 to give the Chargers a comfortable 3-0 lead after doubles play.

Taschereau and Utell continued their impressive effort on Sunday by winning 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, respectively. Ryan Sawyer also swept his competitor without dropping a game at No. 3.
