MCLA tops Lyndon State 6-3 in NAC men's tennis

Stowe, Vt- The MCLA Men's tennis team won their second straight match by defeating NAC foe Lyndon State 6-3 this afternoon at the Top Notch tennis center in Stowe, VT.  With the win, the Trailblazers improve to 4-5 on the season and sit at 2-3 in the NAC with a huge match looming with Thomas tomorrow. Lyndon State drops to 1-9 overall and just 1-4 in league play.

For the second straight match, MCLA swept through doubles to jump to an early 3-0 lead.  Aaron Goldsmith and Rob Wabshinak combined to handle John Corey and Trevor Updike 8-2 in the top slot.  Taylor Krowitz and Michael Rooney won a hard fought match 8-6 over the Hornet duo of Mike Sigsbury and Tyler Hall.  Jeff Mason and Tyler Russell cruised to an 8-2 win in the third doubles match.

Goldsmith handled Corey 6-2, 6-4 in the top singles slot to earn his second point of the day.  Wabshinak disposed of Updike in straight sets in the two hole, while Krowitz did the same in the third slot.  

The Hornets would take the final three singles matches, however MCLA took home the victory.

The win sets up a pivotal match tomorrow at Thomas as MCLA is vying for a playoff berth as are the Terriers.  

The match is slated for tomorrow at 1pm.
