Tennis falls in non conference match with WNE 9-0

Springfield, MA- The Western New England men's tennis team blanked the MCLA Trailblazers 9-0 this afternoon in non conference action.  With the win, the Golden Bears improve to 7-8 on the season while MCLA drops to 3-5.

WNE swept through the doubles matches to get off to a good start.  Justin Kohut and David Kalmer defeated Aaron Goldsmith and Rob Wabshinak 8-1 in the top slot.  Daniel O'Neill and Luke Surawski handled Andrew Nygard and Jared Freeman 8-1, while Griffin Arnold and Michael Tran beat Jeffrey Mason and Robert Gair for the third point heading into singles play.

Kalmer handled Goldsmith 6-0, 6-2 in the top singles slot, while Surawski cruised past Wabshinak 6-0, 6-3.  Tran and Arnold won in straight sets for their second points of the match in the third and fourth spots.

Kevin Yawgel blanked Gair in the fifth slot, while Joe Martoccia beat Jack Peterson to close out the scoring.

MCLA is off until Sunday when they host Green Mountain in a match with playoff implications.
