Mixed Tennis scores second straight NAC win with 7-2 triumph over NVU-Johnson

North Adams, MA- The MCLA mixed tennis team earned their second straight North Atlantic Conference (NAC) victory this afternoon with a 7-2 win over the visiting NVU-Johnson Badgers.  The match was held at the Zavattaro Athletics Complex and MCLA improves to 4-4 overall, but more importantly are now 2-1 in the conference.

The Badgers are now 0-6 and 0-2 in the NAC.

The Trailblazers swept through the doubles matches, but had to work for it.  Charles Najimy and Matt Bluteau earned a point with an 8-6 win in the top slot over Austin Walters and John Folsom.  Nick Castle and Samantha Gawron collected their point via an 8-2 win over Colin Campagna and Trevor Newton.  Briana Higgins and Mackenna Jordan earned another point in the third doubles slot with an 8-4 decision over Kenneth Chandler and Donell Shaw.

MCLA clinched the match as Gawron and Castle earned their second points of the day in singles.  Gawron won in convincing fashion over Chandler 6-1, 6-0 to make it 4-0.  Castle would clinch the match with a 6-4, 6-0 win over Compagna in the third singles matchup.

Najimy and Jordan earned their second points of the afternoon, both in straight sets with wins over Walters and Shaw respectively.  

The Badgers earned their points on singles victories from Folsom and Newton.

MCLA is off for 9 days until they meet up with NVU-Lyndon on the 16th.
