Men's Cross Country finished seventh in MASCAC Championships

The Fitchburg State Falcons are the MASCAC Men's Cross Country Champions after competing at the league championship hosted by MCLA at Mount Greylock Regional High School in Williamstown, Mass. on Saturday afternoon.

The Falcons with 46 points narrowly beat out second place finisher Bridgewater State with 50 points. Westfield State was right behind in third with 52 points while Worcester State came in fourth with 78 points. Framingham State was next in fifth with 166 points. Massachusetts Maritime and MCLA rounded out the field in sixth and seventh with 177 and 193 points, respectively.

Fitchburg State saw four of their runners finish in the top 10 for All-Conference honors. Jacob Movsessian came in third with an 8k time of 27:39. The brother duo of Joseph and Anthony Darrigo were fifth and sixth with times of 28:05 and 28:08 while Tim Sheehy finished 10th with a time of 28:31. 

Trevor Wysong led the way for Bridgewater State as the top overall finisher with a time of 27:17 to earn MASCAC Runner of the Year honors. Teammates Joe Keough and Josh Higgins joined him on the All-Conference team. Keough was fourth with a time of 27:44 while Higgins was eight in a time of 28:26. 

Westfield State's Tim Forrest grabbed a spot on the All-Conference squad with a second place finish. He crossed the line with a time of 27:27.

Closing out the All-Conference honorees are Worcester State's Andrew Fottler and Patrick Carleton. Fottler came in seventh with a time of 28:11 to take home MASCAC Rookie of the Year honors as the top first time performer. Carleton wasn't far behind in ninth in a time of 28:30. 

In his first year leading the Bears, Connor Foley of Bridgewater State was named the 2018 Champion's Choice Men's Cross Country Coach of the Year.

Coming up in two weeks for the men's team is the NCAA DIII New England Regionals on November 10 in Brunswick, Maine hosted by Bowdoin College.
