Leesburg, FL- The MCLA softball team dropped a 6-1 decision this afternoon to Ripon in the opening game of the day.  The Trailblazers fall to 0-3 on the season while Ripon improves to 3-4 on the season.

The Red Hawks jumped out in front with a pair of runs in the third inning off Trailblazer starter Morgan Watson for an early 2-0 advantage.  The Trailblazers would cut the deficit in half as Chelsea Coleman lofted an RBI single into left field scoring Alex Romano making it 2-1.

Ripon would add a solo run in the bottom of the inning before busting the game open and chasing Watson with three runs in the fifth.  The Red Hawks got an RBI single from starting pitcher Lexi Reetz and took advantage of a Trailblazer miscue and some wild pitches to extend to a 6-1 margin.

Reetz did the rest as she allowed just one hit the rest of the way to earn her third win of the season.  The right hander struck out ten Trailblazers and yielded just 6 hits in recording the win.  Ashley Parkkonen was 3-3 on the afternoon while Reetz helped her cause belting a pair of hits.

MCLA was paced by Romano offensively as the senior collected a pair of hits while Coleman also was perfect going 3-3 on the afternoon.  Watson tossed the first 4.2 innings allowing 5 runs with 4 walks.

In game two, Scranton easily handled the Trailblazers by a score of 15-1.
