Softball returns to action with a pair of losses to Amherst 9-0, 8-1

Amherst, MA- The MCLA Softball team returned to action following a long layoff as they dropped a pair of games to Amherst College.  The Trailblazers dropped the opener 9-0 before falling in the nightcap 8-1.  The Trailblazers are now 0-12 on the season while Amherst improves to 14-6.

In the opener, Amherst started fast plating two in the first, four in the second, and three in the third to take a commanding 9-0 lead.  The Trailblazers could muster just two hits off Amherst pitchers Jackie Buechler and Lorena Ukanwa.  

Chelsea Coleman and Morgan Watson were the only two Trailblazers to record hits in the opener.  Kara Adams took the loss in the circle going the first 2.1 innings for MCLA.

In the nightcap, Amherst once again struck fast scoring twice in the first frame and then adding four more in the fourth to take a 6-0 lead.  MCLA would get a run back in the fifth on Ashley Wilson's hit, but Amherst put the game away with two runs in the bottom of the inning.

Erika Quackenbush took the loss for MCLA.

The Trailblazers are back in action on Thursday traveling to Southern Vermont.
