Softball splits on final day of Florida swing with 5-3 win over St. Lawrence

Clermont, FL- The MCLA Softball team got a two run home run from Kaylyn Holliday in the sixth inning and Sam Feinstein tossed a complete game as the Trailblazers closed their southern trip with a 5-3 win over St. Lawrence.  The Trailblazers dropped the opener to Southern Maine 8-0 in six innings.

MCLA concludes the southern swing with a record of 2-8.

St. Lawrence-

MCLA opened the scoring with two runs in the first inning on RBI singles off the bats of Kara Adams and L'Rae Brundige for a quick 2-0 edge.  St. Lawrence responded with two runs of their own in the second inning to knot things up at 2-2.  

Alanza Quinones' sacrifice fly gave MCLA a brief 3-2 lead, but they would enter the sixth inning tied up at 3-3.  Kaylyn Holliday came up the with the clutch hit as she belted her second home run of the season to give the Trailblazers a 5-3 lead.

The Trailblazers would hold off St. Lawrence as they ended the contest when a St. Lawrence batter missed first base.  MCLA won the appeal and earned the win for Sam Feinstein.  Feinstein tossed all seven frames to earn the win.

Southern Maine-

MCLA was held to just two hits in the opener as the Huskies cruised to the 8-0 victory.  They tallied five runs in the fourth inning, tacked on two more in the fifth, and ended the game with a run in the sixth to earn the mercy rule win.

Holliday and Morgan Watson had the lone hits for MCLA in the loss.

Watson was tagged with the loss going four innings and allowing 5 runs.
