Softball bounces back, splits the afternoon
Clermont, FL- After being no-hit in their first game of the day vs. Hamilton 11-0, the Trailblazers bats woke up and helped lead them to a hard-fought 5-4 decision against Wisconsin-Superior.
Game One- Hamilton 11- MCLA 0
Hamilton's Morgan Hartranft threw a five inning no-hitter this afternoon surrendering just one walk and striking out six on her way to her 4th victory of the season as the Continentals blanked the Trailblazers 11-0.
While unable to muster a hit, the Trailblazers hung tough early trailing only 2-0 through four innings of play.
Unfortunately for MCLA the top of the 5th saw the floodgates open as Hamilton would erupt for seven hits and nine runs essentially putting the contest out of reach.
The Continentals featured a balanced offensive attack as seven of the eight players registering hits drove in at least one run.
Kara Adams would take the loss for the MCLA.
With the win Hamilton improves to 8-1 while MCLA drops to 1-8.
Game Two- MCLA 5- Wisconsin-Superior 4
A leadoff inside the park home run by Erika Quackenbush got things started for MCLA in their second game of the day.
Though Wisconsin-Superior would answer with a run of thier own in the bottom half of the 1st, a Kaitlyn Berghela bases loaded single which scored three and a Kayla Baker single diving in Berghela would give the Trailblazers a 5 -1 lead.
The Yellowjackets would cut the lead to one after posting one run in each the 4th and 5th innings. However the MCLA defense was solid behind Samantha Feinstein who would only allow one hit over the last two innings giving MCLA the 5-4 win.
Berghela (3 RBI's) and Baker each had two hits on the day.
Feinstein scattered six hits walking just one in her complete game victory.
