Westfield, Mass. — A total of 372 student-athletes have been honored by the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference with selection to the league's Winter 2014 All-Academic Team that was released earlier today by Commissioner Angela Baumann.

MCLA placed ten athletes on the academic team representing both Men's and Women's Basketball.  Women's Basketball placed six players on the squad while Men's Basketball had three representatives.

Student-athletes that compete in championship varsity sports offered by each of the MASCAC institutions during the course of the Winter 2014 athletic season and have achieved a 3.20 cumulative or semester-based grade point average during the semester are eligible for selection to the Winter All-Academic Team. The sports recognized are men's and women's basketball, cheering, men's ice hockey, men's and women's swimming and diving and men's and women's indoor track and field.

Westfield State University placed the most student-athletes on the Winter 2014 MASCAC All-Academic Team with 98 total, while Bridgewater State University (67), Worcester State University (64) and Fitchburg State University (52) followed.

"I want to applaud all of the student-athletes and the MASCAC institutions on having such an amazing number of student-athletes honored on the Winter MASCAC All-Academic Team," Commissioner Baumann said of the honorees.  "The success of our outstanding student-athletes achievements in the classroom, in competition and in the community gives me great pride in our conference."
