Women's Basketball stopped at WNE 67-52

Springfield, MA- The MCLA Women's basketball team found themselves in a big hole early in the first half and couldn't recover in a 67-52 road loss at Western New England.  With the win, the Golden Bears improve to 3-1 on the season while the Trailblazers even their mark at 1-1.

The hosts came out of the gate strong building a 27-8 lead.  MCLA struggled with turnovers eary on committing ten in the opening spurt while also struggling to score.  Ultimately the Trailblazers would trail 26-18 at halftime.

In the second half, MCLA would get within 9 points at 47-38 on a Courtney McLaughlin three pointer, however that is as close as they would get.  WNE responded with five straight points and cruised from there.

The hosts placed four players in double figures led by the trio of Amanda Lopez, Dorothy O'Neill, and Chelsea Vujs all with 11 points.  Sammie Olson came off the bench to collect 10 points.  Vujs added a team best 6 assists and 6 rebounds.

For MCLA, McLaughlin scored a career best 23 points on 7-15 shooting including three triples. Courtney Durivage added 12 points off the bench.

MCLA was hampered by 24 turnovers compared to just 12 for WNE.  

The Trailblazers will look to get back on track on Saturday when they travel to Fisher College for a noon tipoff.
