MCLA's size prevails in women's basketball win over Fisher
Lynn, MA- The duo of Svetlana Morrell and Kayla Hotaling combined for 35 points and 28 rebounds in leading MCLA past Fisher 72-55 this afternoon in non conference action. The Trailblazers are now 2-1 on the season.
MCLA only trailed after the Falcons scored the opening basket of the contest. From there it was all Trailblazers. An early 7-0 spurt put MCLA on top 11-4 and they never looked back. The Trailblazers would evenutally lead 41-27 at halftime.
Fisher would trim the deficit to just eight points early in the second half before MCLA would pull away. With the score at 45-37, MCLA used an 8-0 run to put the game out of reach. The lead grew to as many as 21 points before settling on the final score.
Morrell was 7-13 from the floor for her 15 points. Six of her 16 rebounds were on the offensive glass. Hotaling mirrored Morrell from the floor going 7-13 herself. She notched 12 caroms and added 3 blocks and 3 steals.
Fisher was paced by Alexis Akridge's 18 points. Murphy Carroll added 13. Madison Carroll collected 8 assists.
The Trailblazers return home on Monday to face Becker College at 6pm.
