Women's Basketball falls to Westfield State 62-48 in MASCAC play

WESTFIELD, Mass.  – Seniors Jen Ashton and Gabby Felix celebrated senior night in style, leading the Owls to a 62-48 win over Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts  at the Woodward Center on Tuesday night.

Ashton scored 14 points, grabbed seven rebounds and dished out six assists, while Felix  finished with 13 points and seven rebounds.  Felix now has 987 career points.

Westfield led 37-22 at the half,  and led by more than 20 in the second half before substituting freely late in the game.

Westfield improves to 20-4, 11-0 in the MASCAC with the win.  The Owls will have a chance to become the first MASCAC team to go unbeaten in league play since the 2003-04 Salem State club, when Westfield travels to Fitchburg State on Saturday for the final regular season game.  Westfield has already clinched the league's regular season title and the #1 seed in the postseason tournament.

MCLA falls to 7-17, 1-10 in the MASCAC.  The Trailblazers got a game high 16 points from Brayleigh Hanson, and 14 points from Courtney McLaughlin.

Westfield State honored it's senior class before the game, including Felix, Ashton, guard Brianna Lowry and forward Molly Waitt.  Lowry played an efficient 20 minutes with four points, four rebounds, and 3 assists and three steals.  Waitt playe eight minutes but did not score.
