Hotaling scores 12 points, but MCLA falls to Curry 67-45

Northampton, MA- The MCLA Women's basketball program dropped their second straight game in the Smith College tip off tournament falling to the Curry College Colonels 67-45 this afternoon.  The Trailblazers are now 0-2 on the season while Curry improves to 1-1.

MCLA got off to a slow start falling behind 22-12 after one quarter of play.  The Trailblazers played better in the second quarter, however they still trailed by ten at halftime 37-27.

Any thoughts of a Trailblazer comeback were dashed when Curry outscored MCLA 26-15 in the third quarter to take a commanding 63-42 lead into the fourth period.  MCLA never threatened again and Curry went on to the win.

Kayla Hotaling scored 12 points to lead MCLA including ten in the second half.  She was the only Trailblazer in double figures as freshmen Courtney Pingelski and MacKenzie Robinson finished with 8 apiece.  The Trailblazers were hampered by shooting just 32% for the game and committed 25 turnovers.

Curry was led by four players in double figures including Christina Deiorio's game high 19 points.  Emily Irwin ended with 13 points and Shannon Griffith had 12.  The other player in double figures was Kerry White who had 11.

Curry shot a solid 45% from the floor and overcame 25 turnovers to score the win.

MCLA will challenge Daniel Webster on Wednesday night at 7pm.
