Women's Basketball falls in low scoring affair to Union 43-41

North Adams, MA-The MCLA Women's basketball team fell to Union College by the score of 43-41 this afternoon at the Amsler Campus Center in a low scoring affair. Union used a 17-4 run to end the 3rd quarter and the beginning of the 4th to take control of the game. Sophomore Sophie Borg scored 9 of the 13 points on the run en route to scoring 17 points off the bench to lead Union.

With the loss, the Trailblazers now drop to 4-4 on the season, while Union College improves to 4-4 on the year.

Prior to the run that Union had made, they were trailing MCLA 26-18 with four minutes left in the third quarter.  MCLA's Kayla Hotaling picked up her third foul and was forced to head to the bench.  Union immediately went on their game changing spurt fueled by Borg and junior guard Jenni Barra.  Barra knocked down two huge three pointers in the 4th quarter as the visitors never trailed again.

Erin Lyons ended with 11 points and 5 rebounds for Union.  Barra added 7 rebounds and 2 assists. Borg also chipped in with 7 rebounds.

The Trailblazers' scoring was lead by Kayla Hotaling with 12 points. She also contributed with 7 rebounds.  Courtney McLaughlin pitched in a solid 10 and contributed with 4 assists.

The Trailblazers will be heading to Florida, where they will be taking on Wheaton on the 20th. Union will take on St. Lawrence University on December 30th
