Women's basketball drops non league tilt to Springfield 67-55

North Adams, MA- The visiting Springfield College women's basketball team outscored MCLA 41-22 in the second half as they rallied past the Trailblazers 67-55 this afternoon in non league action.  With the win, the Pride improve to 12-5 on the season while MCLA drops to 7-9.

The Trailblazers held a 33-26 edge at halftime but were outscored 22-10 in the pivotal third quarter as the Pride took over.  Heather King scored 10 points in the closing half as the Pride finally pulled even at 39-39 with 4:10 left in the third quarter.  They would take the lead for good on a layup from Molly McCausland on the next possession and wouldn't look back.

In the fourth quarter, the Pride would lead comfortably by double digits as they were never threatened by the hosts.

King led all scorers with 16 points on 8-15 shooting.  Gracie Restituyo and McCausland each ended with 10 points in the win for the Pride.  King added 9 rebounds Danielle Racette and Lexi Windwer each had 5 assists in the win.

MCLA was paced by Ashley Clawson and Karina Mattera who each ended with 11 points.  Courtney McLaughlin added 10 points in the loss.  

The Trailblazers shot a solid 48% in the opening half, but ended at just 40% for the game.  The Pride converted on 49% of their attempts, including a 60% clip in the pivotal second half.

MCLA committed 20 turnovers in the contest to just 16 for the Pride.

The Trailblazers welcome the Bridgewater State Bears into the Amsler Campus Center on Wednesday evening.
