Women's Basketball gives back to community with gifts to local children

North Adams, MA-  The MCLA women's basketball program was in the giving mood last week.  The Trailblazers participated in the "Adopt a Family" program run by the Department of Children and Families (DCF).  The Trailblazer players were each assigned a child and were responsible for gathering the gifts prior to the upcoming holiday.

The student athletes compiled the gifts last week and donated them to a DCF official last week.

Head Coach Loren Stock said the Trailblazer women enjoyed their experience and outlined the importance of giving back to the local community.

"The student- athletes went shopping together and spent the next couple of nights decorating and wrapping them. A social worker from Pittsfield DCF came to MCLA last week to pick up the gifts and bring them to the kids.  Our women had a lot of fun, shopping for the kids and enjoyed being able to give back to the community," she commented.

The Trailblazer women's basketball program is currently on break until December 30th when they head to Springfield College to take on the Pride as part of their holiday tournament.
