Brundige leads MCLA as they rally past Keene State 67-59 in women's basketball

Keene, NH- MCLA's L'Rae Brundige scored a career high 20 points to rally the Trailblazers past the Keene State women's basketball team 67-59 this afternoon in non league action.  The Trailblazers won their second straight contest as they improve to 2-1 on the season.  The Owls drop to 1-3 on the season.

Brundige was outstanding going 10-14 from the floor for her 20 point night.  She added three assists and a pair of rebounds.  Courtney Pingelski added 11 points and a team best 12 rebounds in the win.  Sam Gawron added 12 points including a key bucket with under two minutes left to play to lift MCLA.

Keene led 51-45 heading into the final period of play before MCLA rallied.  Brundige scored 8 points in the closing period to spark a rally.  She began the quarter with a pair of buckets and when Gawron converted an offensive rebound, MCLA led 56-55 with 3:51 left to play.  Keene briefly took the lead back on a layup, but Mckenzie Robinson converted a step back triple to make it 59-57 in favor of MCLA.  It was lead they wouldn't relinquish.

After a defensive stop, Brundige knocked down a 16 footer to increase the lead to a two possession game at 61-57.  Gawron would add a pair of free throws to offset an Owl basket to make it 63-59 with just 1:41 left to play.  After another defensive stop, Brundige hit the dagger, another jumper to increase the lead to 65-59.  A pair of Gawron FT's would seal it and give the Trailblazers the win.

Keene was paced by Lily Shlimon's team high 13 point night.  Kenzie Bennett added 10 points in the loss.  

MCLA shot 47% to earn the win and held Keene to just 35% shooting.  

The Trailblazers are back in action at home on Tuesday looking for their third straight win as they host Mount Holyoke.
