Women's Basketball drops semester finale at home to Union 56-46

North Adams, MA- Union's Nicole Conley scored 16 of her game high 23 points in the second half as she led a rally as the Dutchwomen earned a 56-46 win over the MCLA Trailblazers in non league play.  Union trailed 29-21 at halftime, but outscored MCLA 35-17 over the final twenty minutes to earn the win.

Union improves to 5-2 heading into semester break.  The Trailblazers drop their fifth straight in falling to 3-6 as they also enter semester break.

MCLA led at the half behind a defensive effort that created 13 first half turnovers.  Union came out hot in the second half thought to quickly gain momentum.  After MCLA opened a 31-21 lead, their largest of the night, Union responded with a 15-4 surge to knot things up at 36-36 heading to the final quarter.

From there, Conley took over.  The senior scored ten points in the quarter as Union used a 7-0 spurt to take the lead for keeps.  Conley's triple started the run and when Anna Metcalf converted a pair of free throws, they led 47-40.  MCLA got no closer the rest of the way as the Union defense suffocated the Trailblazer offense.

Conley was 8-17 from the floor but also finished with 10 rebounds and 6 blocked shots.  Elly Vaughan ended with 12 points and 10 boards as well to compliment Conley.  Metcalf finished with 10 points.  Union shot 47% from the floor, but held MCLA to just 32% shooting.

The Trailblazers were led by Sam Gawron's team high of 14 points.  She also added 8 rebounds and 2 steals.  L'Rae Brundige ended with 12 points for MCLA.

Both teams are off until January during exams and the holiday break.
