Women's Hoop falls at home to MASCAC front runner Framingham 79-54

North Adams, MA- Framingham State's Mary Kate O'Day and Emily Velozo combined for 36 points to lead the visiting Rams to a 79-54 win over the MCLA Trailblazers in MASCAC women's basketball action from the Amsler Campus Center Gym.  The Rams improve 17-5 overall and remain unbeaten in MASCAC play at 9-0.  MCLA dips to 2-19 overall and is 0-10 in the conference.

Framingham led just 10-7 after one quarter of play, but took over with a strong second quarter.  With the score tied at 13-13, the Rams went on a 17-3 spurt to take the lead for keeps.  Mary Kate O'Day had eight points in the run to key the Rams.  Framingham would eventually lead 41-23 at halftime. 

O'Day and Emily Velozo combined for 21 first half points for Framingham.  The Rams started cold shooting just 25% in the first quarter, but warmed up to shoot a sizzling 65% in the pivotal second quarter.

The Rams were never threatened over the final twenty minutes of action as they increased the lead to 69-41 after three quarters and cruised home.  

O'Day led all scorers with 19 points on 6-10 shooting.  She connected on 5-7 three pointers and added 7 rebounds.  Velozo ended with 17 points on 5-11 shooting.  She added 4 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 steals.  Flannery O'Connor ended with 11 points and 9 rebounds.  Krysta Padellaro chipped in with 10 points.  Liana Cunningham ended with just 2 points, but added 5 rebounds and 8 assists.

The Rams shot 41% for the contest.

MCLA was paced by Hannah Mazzeo's 14 points and 10 rebounds.  Brooke DiGennaro came off the bench to score 13 points.  The Trailblazers shot 36% from the floor. 

MCLA will host Senior Day on Saturday when they take on Worcester State at 3pm.
