Cutler paces MCLA as they breeze past Green Mountain in women's lacrosse

North Adams, MA- MCLA's Kim Granito and Mackenzie Cutler combined for goals in leading the women's lacrosse team to a 21-3 victory over the Green Mountain Eagles at Shewcraft field this afternoon.  The Trailblazers improve to 2-2 on the season while the game marked the season opener for Green Mountain.

Cutler scored 5 goals to lead all scorers while Granito added 4.  The Trailblazers had eight different player net goals.

MCLA wasted little time to get the offense going as they scored the game's first four goals.  Kim Granito started the scoring just one minute into play.  Natalie Caney, Mackenzie Cutler, and Courtney Gabrus added goals in the opening stretch to make it 4-0.  GMC added their first goal at the 23:55 mark to cut it to 4-1, but MCLA answered with three more goals to stretch it to 7-1.

Granito and Cutler added their second goals of the half and Aleah Sangiovanni tallied her first in the stretch.  A GMC goal with 16:13 left in the half made it 7-2, but MCLA would score the last seven goals of the half to take a 14-4 lead.  Granito and Cutler each had three goals in the first half for MCLA.

MCLA kept the pressure up to open the second half as they opened on a 5-1 spurt to put the game away.

Trailblazer Zoe Elwell earned the win in goal playing the first half and stopping a pair of shots in the half.  Julia Coughlin played the entire second half for the Trailblazers.

MCLA is back in action on Thursday when they travel to Sage College for a non-league tilt.
