Caney repeats as an All MASCAC selection in Lacrosse

2017 All MASCAC Lacrosse Release

North Adams, MA- MCLA senior midfielder Natalie Caney has been named to the All MASCAC team as announced by the league offices this afternoon.  Caney is a repeat selection as she made the team a year ago.

Senior Melissa Renauld of Bridgewater State has been named the 2017 Women's Lacrosse Player of the Year and headlines this year's all-conference team in a vote taken of the eight coaches from around the league.

Grace Gamache of Framingham State earned the 2017 MASCAC Rookie of the Year while helping the Rams to the third seed in the conference Tournament. The freshman from Dartmouth, Mass. netted 48 goals, the second-most in the conference with six assists, 40 draw controls. 18 ground balls and five caused turnovers.

After leading the Bears to the MASCAC regular season title and the top seed in the tournament, Erica Adams of Bridgewater State has been named the 2017 Champion's Choice Coach of the Year.

Caney was the primary weapon for MCLA this season as she scored 27 goals and added a team best 15 assists.  She scooped up 60 groundballs and grabbed 47 draw controls, both tops on the roster.  Caney had her best game of the season against Wentworth when she tallied 6 goals and 3 assists in a 17-16 setback.  The senior was a three year member of the lacrosse program who was a major factor in the Trailblazers switch to varsity competition.
