Offense stalls in second half in Lacrosse's 14-7 loss to Mitchell

New London, CT- The Mitchell College women's lacrosse program outscored visiting MCLA 7-0 in the second half as they broke open a tie game at halftime to earn a 14-7 win over the Trailblazers this afternoon.  The Mariners earned their first win of the season improving to 1-2 while MCLA evens their early season mark at 1-1.

The Trailblazers fell behind early as Mitchell took a 4-0 lead out of the gates just three minutes into the game.  Rachel Green ignited a run for the Trailblazers tallying three goals while Brianna Morris added another to slice the deficit to just 5-4 with 8:31 left til halftime.

MCLA would eventually tie the game when Morris scored back to back goals with three minutes left tying it up at 6-6.  The teams would trade markers late in the half and when Andrea Villars converted a Free Position shot, it was 7-7 at the half.

From there, Mitchell took over.  They would outshoot MCLA 18-5 in the second half and began to pull away.  The trio of Kate McCormack, Rachel Barda, and Francesca Pinard each tallied two second half goals to lead the offense.

McCormack ended with 6 goals to lead the Mitchell attack.  Lindsey Fairbank ended with three goals for the Mariners.  

Green paced MCLA with three goals and scooped up five groundballs.  She also won six draw controls.  Morris ended with three goals and 4 groundballs.

Zoe Elwell stopped 15 shots in goal for the Trailblazers.

MCLA is back in action on Saturday when they open MASCAC play hosting Bridgewater at 1pm.
