Lacrosse can't keep pace with Lancers in MASCAC tilt

Worcester, MA- Worcester State's Alexis Vecchiarelli tallied five goals and added two assists to lead the Lancers to a 14-4 win over the visiting MCLA Trailblazers this evening at Alumni Field.  The Lancers improve to 7-6 overall and are now 2-2 in the conference.  MCLA drops to 1-6 on the season and is 0-4 in the MASCAC.

The Lancers took control from the onset as they scored the games first ten goals over the opening twenty minutes of action.  Vecchiarelli scored four of her markers during this stretch.  Five other Lancers converted during the opening surge and when Vecchiarelli tallied with 9:44 left it was 10-0.

MCLA would score the final two goals of the half as Mackenzie Cutler tallied back to back goals to trim the margin to 10-2 at halftime.

The hosts would score the first three goals of the second half to quell any thoughts of a Trailblazer rally and when Kelly Austin converted with 22:22 left to play, it was 13-2 in favor of the Lancers.  MCLA wouldn't get any closer than the final margin the rest of the way.

Austin, Mackenzie Little, and Alexa Harvey each scored a pair of goals for the Lancers.  Chloe O'Brien earned the win stopping two shots on the night.  The Lancers controlled the stats as they outshot MCLA 24-7 and held a 27-10 edge in groundballs.

Cutler led the Trailblazers with three goals on the night.  Zoe Elwell was tabbed with the loss for MCLA.

The Trailblazers are back in action on Friday night when they travel to Mass. Maritime to continue MASCAC play.
