Granito scores six goals, but women's lax falls to Sage 12-10

North Adams, MA – Junior attack Anne Risler scored four goals to lead The Sage Colleges to a 12-10 non-league women's lacrosse win at the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts Thursday night at Shewcraft Field. The Gators won for the first time in the young season and are now 1-2, while MCLA is 0-2.

Kim Granito paced all scoers with six goals and she added an assist for the Trailblazers.

Sage led 7-5 at halftime, but MCLA would come out firing in the second half.  They would score three straight goals to take the lead at 8-7.  Granito started the scoring surge and was followed by tallies from Ciera Dowling and Brianna Morris for MCLA.

Sage answered on Kerry McKeown's tally to knot things back up at 8-8, and then the Gators' Anne Risler would score three of Sage's next four goals as they took command.  When Risler put home her final tally of the night, Sage led 12-8 with just 5:42 remaining.

MCLA wouldn't go quietly though as Granito would score twice in the final minutes to pull the Trailblazers within 12-10, but Sage would control the possession and eventually run out the clock.

Sage's Carly Plaisance earned the win in goal as she played the second half and stopped six shots.  Marina Azab started and saved five shots for the Gators.

Risler ended with 4 goals while Brittany Gage ended with three goals in the win.

Morris finished with two goals for MCLA in the loss.  Shannon Prouty saved 12 shots in goal for the Trailblazers.

MCLA is off until next Saturday when they head to Becker College.
