Granito, Dowling lead Lacrosse to first win as they defeat Bay Path 14-8

North Adams, MA- MCLA's Kim Granito and Ciera Dowling combined for nine goals in the Trailblazers 14-8 win over Bay Path University this evening at Shewcraft Field.  The win marks the first for MCLA this season.

MCLA improves to 1-6 on the season.  The Wildcats fall to 0-8.

The Trailblazers started fast as Ciera Dowling scored just 2:15 into the contest for a 1-0 advantage.  After Kim Granito's tally made it 2-0, Dowling would strike again to increase to a 3-0 advantage. 

MCLA's Brianna Morris would convert two straight chances to cap the run as the Trailblazers built a 5-0 lead.  Bay Path's Megan McKenna converted to make it 5-1, but MCLA responded with goals from Granito and Dowling to take control.  The teams would then trade a pair of goals heading into halftime with MCLA leading 9-3. 

The Trailblazers outshot the Wildcats 18-10 in the half. 

In the second half, Bay Path got within four goals on two occasions, but each time the Trailblazers responded.  With the score at 12-8 after Joanna Feliciano's marker, MCLA scored two straight goals, one each from Granito and Dowling to pull away.

Granito netted five goals and two assists for seven points on the night.  Dowling ended with four goals, which was a season best effort.  Brianna Morris added three goals and an assist.

Zoe Elwell, making her first start of 2019, recorded nine saves to earn her first win of the season.

Bay Path was paced by Megan McKenna's game high six goals.  Kristina Tran took the loss but stopped ten shots in goal.

MCLA will travel to Salem State this Saturday as they continue conference play.
