Women's Soccer collects first win of season with 2-0 triumph over Bay Path

North Adams, MA- The MCLA Women's Soccer team was controlling all of the play, but found themselves tied at halftime against visiting Bay Path College.  The offensive attack continued in the second half and the Trailblazers received goals from Brittany Whitford and Natalie Caney propelling them past the Wildcats 2-0 this afternoon at Shewcraft Field.

MCLA earned their first win of the season as they move to 1-4-1 overall heading in to MASCAC play this weekend against Worcester State.  Bay Path falls to 1-5 on the season.

The Trailblazers outshot Bay Path 13-0 in the opening half, but couldn't get any past Bay Path keeper Alma Rizvani.  It didn't take MCLA long to eventually break thru in the second half.  Whitford took a pass from Cayla Mole and lofted a shot in to the upper right corner in the 59th minute to give MCLA a 1-0 lead.  The marker was the first in a Trailblazer uniform for Whitford.

Caney would then connect in the 73rd minute as she scored an unassisted goal with a 25 yard shot that went over Rizvani's head making it 2-0.  The goal was the first of the season for the prolific Caney.

MCLA carried most of the play all afternoon outshooting Bay Path 26-3 and holding a 9-0 edge in corners.

Katy Daly stopped the only two shots she saw to earn the shutout.  Rizvani would end the day with ten saves.
