DUDLEY, Mass. – Junior Lindsey Stewart (Mashpee, Mass.) potted her second goal of the season as the Nichols College women's soccer team defeated MCLA 1-0 in non-conference action Wednesday afternoon at the Nichols Soccer Field.

The Bison (7-7-0) now have their most wins since the 2010 season when they went 12-6-1 on their way to a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) tournament berth.

Nichols got on the board in the 18th minute. After a save by sophomore Katy Daly (South Cairo, N.Y.) off of a free kick by freshman Meghan Dunn (Dudley, Mass.), Daly attempted to roll the ball out to a teammate but rolled it directly to Stewart who was able to lift a shot over the goaltender and into the net.

The Bison had one more really good chance to put one on the board towards the end of the half when the Trailblazers attempted to clear it out of their box and freshman Taylor Daniels (Dudley, Mass.) blasted a one-timer that hit off the far post.

Nichols outshot MCLA 10-5 in the first half and 21-10 for the game. Dunn led all Bison with five shots while junior Kathleen Ledbetter (Norton, Mass.) picked up four. The Trailblazers were paced by junior Alexi Anderson (Green Island, N.Y.) with four shots.

Junior Kelly English (Mansfield, Mass.) improves to 4-7-0 after registering eight saves in the contest. The win marks her third shutout on the season. Daly tallied seven saves in the losing effort, and falls to 3-9-1 on the year.

The Bison travel to take on conference foe the University of New England on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. The Trailblazers travel to take on Westfield State on Saturday at 11:00 a.m.
